Hello My fellow motorcycle friends out there!
This is Andy the shop guru. I want to share a short story with everyone. I have a very dear friend who I will refer to as "Jasper". He lives very close to Jennings GP race track, where we do track days in North Florida. Jasper is not what you would refer to as a overly diligent, in terms of maintenance on his bikes. For the past 5 years when we can arrange it, I have been assisting Jasper to maintain his Honda 650 Hawk, Honda RC51, and Honda VFR 800.
So Jasper brought me his VFR for a full service, (including valve adjustment). During the service I remove the air box and as I carry it to the work bench the bottom half of the air box falls off and half a bag of dog food falls out all over the shop floor.
I just stood there and laughed for about 10 minutes, then swept up the mess. Now I know Jasper loves his bikes and he is also passionate about his animals, but I really felt like the animals got me a good one, kinda like this....
I collected myself and completed the service.
THE MORAL OF THE STORY
If you store your bike for more than 3 months, set some rat traps!!!!! You may need to vacuum the debris out of the throttle bodies or carbs!
If you are going to store your bike for more than 3 months, give me a call and I will give you a few tips!
RUBBER SIDE DOWN! RIDE ON!!!!!!
